Charles Greene Owen
1832-1913 (81 at Death)
Charles Greene Owen Moved from Greene County Indiana to Decatur IL where he leveled many of the streets. It was said that these first wood block and later brick streets were so smooth from his manhandled scraper and draft horses that they did not need any filling or extra work to finish.
He died September 12th 1913 is buried in Greenwood Cemetery (far, low hill near Sangamon River) next to his 2nd wife Angeline Harvey. Angeline was born on April 28th 1839, She and Charles were married November 20th 1864.
Angeline died May 1st 1925, It was said She was 1/8th Cherokee. Also buried in Greenwood Cemetery is their son John Harvey Owen who died at age 34.
His son, Roy Pearl Owen and his wife Pearl Gebhart are buried in Decatur's Fairlawn Cemetery along with their sons, Ralph Durward Owen and Robert Dale Owen.
