Evan Owen came to Greene Co Indiana from Surry Co NC Evan Owen

1786-1861 (75 at Death)


Evan Owen had come to Greene County, Indiana, from Surry County, North Caroliana, around 1814 to the town of Paoli, in Orange Co. IN with his brothers. In 1817 they moved on to Greene Co Indiana.

He married Priscilla Sanders in Greene County, Indiana in 1819. They had 12 children. John Cameron was there youngest child.

He was one of the first settlers in Greene County with Isaac Stalcup, Ephraim Owen, John H. Owen, John L. Buskirk, Colonel Jack Stokely, James Jackson, Timothy Jessup, Robert Baber and John Kelley

Evan died 1861 in Highland Township and was buried in the Bland/Owen cemetery there.
